Abandoned Harps/Sligo game rescheduled for October 4th

The FAI has confirmed that the Northwest derby between Sligo Rovers and Finn Harps, scheduled for Monday, October 3rd, will now take place on Tuesday, October 4th at the Showgrounds at 7.45pm.

The Sligo match was abandoned after just 22 minutes on the 3rd of September due to a waterlogged pitch. It was subsequently rescheduled for next Tuesday the 27th of September. However, in a detailed submission to the FAI, Harps secretary John Campbell requested that the game be pushed back a couple of weeks to ease the pressure on Ollie Horgan’s side who had been facing six games in 19 days.

The FAI re-fixed the game for Monday week, the 3rd of October, just 48 hours after Harps play away to Galway United. Ollie Horgan had been hoping for the game to be pushed back further so the club made another request to have the match rescheduled. The FAI has now put back the fixture by 24 hours to next Tuesday week, the 4th of October. The club put a lot of time into making the case for getting the game put back further.

Harps next game is against St. Patrick’s Athletic at Finn Park on this on Friday night. On the following Saturday, the 1st October, we will be away to Galway United and then it will be the re-fixed Sligo Rovers match at the Showgrounds now on Tuesday the 4th of October.
