Glenfin deliver superb performance to land Division Three minor title

GAA: Glenfin are division 3 champions after a win over Malin in the final played in St. Mary’s Park, Convoy. Glenfin took the lead but found themselves two goals down after Oisin McGonagle and Josh Conlan goaled for Malin.

They rallied and managed to score five points in a row and then as halftime approached Stephen Carr’s pointed effort from a free was pushed onto the bar but Karl McGlynn was on hand to palm in to leave the halftime score Malin 2-01 Glenfin 1-06.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first with Glenfin hitting the first score before Malin hit four scores to level and then go ahead.

Glenfin then managed to outscore Malin by six points to one to win the game with Stephen Carr, Matthew McGinley and Keelan McMonagle impressive.

Malin team and scorers: Ronan Lafferty, Robert Boggs, Cormac Cullinan, Conor Kelly, Conor Quigley, Ryan Doherty, Connor McColgan (0-01), Conor Bambrick, Ciaran Doherty (0-02), Oisin McGonagle (1-01), Joseph Doherty, Conor McGeogeghan (0-02), Josh Conlan (1-00), Joseph Doherty (PM) and Conor Gallagher. Subs used Seán O’Neill for Joseph Doherty (halftime- black card), Seán Byrne for Robert Boggs (42 mins), Matthew Mullarkey for Conor Bambrick (55mins) and Padraig McCarron for Ciaran Doherty (60 mins).

Glenfin team and scorers: Luke Reder, Darren Marley, Shane O’Donnell, Jack Marley, Odhran McGlynn, Thomas Walsh, Keelan McMonagle, Stephen Carr (0-06), Karl McGlynn (1-01), Kyle O’Meara, Matthew McGinley (0-04), Kaine McGlynn, John Harkin, Adam Marley (0-02) and Charlie Herron. Subs used: Martin Doherty for John Harkin (35 mins), Jason Gallagher for Charlie Heron (35 mins).
