Rosses AC News:

Last Sunday saw action and a number of our club athletes travel to the ulster even ages cross country championships in Rostrevor in County Down. An early start but worth it all with Rosses success where the best Ulster has to offer lined out to contest the even ages xcountry. Michael O’Donnell came home in 4th place in u-10! He ran a fantastic race and continues the fine form he has shown all year and looks forward to the All Irelands.Lara Doherty finished 11th in u-16 girls and secured her place on the Ulster team in the All Ireland’s next month where she will represent her club, county and province!!!!Emma Brown ran her best xcountry race to date running a super race out of her age group. A huge well done to all and there was proud smiles on coaches Sinead Diver and Helen McCready – who herself decided 30 minutes before when she noticed there was an adult women’s races, togged out and came home a very strong 20th – a tough woman and coach!!!

Assistant Coach Course – The Club is planning to hold an Assistance Coach course with Regional Development officer Paul McKee over the winter. The course will be held locally and is an introduction to coaching in three key event areas, Running (Sprints and Endurance), Jumping, and Throwing (Shot Putt). Anyone interested in becoming a coach and in a position to assist at Club training sessions should forward their name to Aidan Gillespie on 0834665734 or email rossesac@yahoo.ie

Newmills 10k – Strong running by a few of our athletes with some focusing towards Dublin Marathon next weekend. Ciaran McGonagle is getting back to racing form with a strong 3rd today in a time of 34:14. Noel Diver had a 35:56 with Kevin McGee in 37:02. Charlie O’Donnell continues to improve with an excellent 38:47 and Owen Coyle with another impressive 43:25 to his name. Good luck to all our club athletes and athletes from the local area who will be taking part in the Dublin Marathon this Sunday 30th October.
