Gardai have confirmed they are investigating an incident which has led to parents being warned about their children’s safety in Dungloe.
A young boy was approached by a man yesterday afternoon and threatened as he was coming home from school.
The man fled bt local reports claim he may have been brandishing a weapon.
The boy was not hurt during the incident.
Local schools have issued texts messages to parents warning them not to allow pupils to walk to or from school alone.
Garda Superintendant David Kelly confirmed they are seeking to speak to a man described as being 6’1″ in height and aged between 30 and 40 years.
A spokesman for the Garda Press Office told Donegal Daily that they are investigating the incident.
A spokesman said “Gardaí are investigating an incident in which a 12yr old boy alleges he was approached by a man in a suspicious manner on quay Rd Dungloe, Co Donegal at approx. 3pm on 10th Nov 2016. Gardaí are appealing for information. The boy was not injured in the incident.”
