Rosses AC

Last Sunday saw action in the Donegal juvenile cross country relays in Ballybofey where the club had a strong showing with 7 teams taking part. Action began with u-10 boys who came home 7th team, then the u-12 girls who battled hard in a very competitive race. Under 10 boys showed promise as a team with Kyle Bonner, Mikey Gillespie, Hugh Boyle and Michael O’Donnell running well. Under 12 girls ran well as a team with Claire Diver, Isabella Sweeney, Yuelita Boyle and Eimear McCole. We had 2 teams in the u-14 girls with one team 5th and the other team 9th. The u-16 girls team came home 4th while the 2 teams in the u-16 boys did great with one of the teams who were made up of Jack Walsh, Donal Walsh, Aidan Mc Cole & Joe Sharkey won bronze medals with the run of the day went to the birthday boy Aidan Mc Cole on the third leg of the team to setup a very exciting finish by Joe who, on the closing straight, just snatched the 3rd place medal from LK AC!

The senior race followed impressive displays by the underage teams and the Senior men did not fail to disappoint with a number of impressive performances and coming home 4th team where it was 6 to score. Ciaran McGonagle lead home the team in 11th followed by Noel Diver, Kevin McGee, Edward Harkin, Eamonn McGee and Fergal McGee. It was a good showing by the team with a number races over the last few weekends!!

On Saturday Leah Nic Ghairbhigh agus Joe o Searcaigh, students in Pobalscoil Ghaoth Dobhair, took part in the All Ireland schools multi events competition in Athlone. Joe finished 11th and Leah finished 12th which were great results for both against really good competition. Well done to both and thanks to parents who travelled to support.
