Meet the man shaking up the Letterkenny cocktail scene

House Wine Bar & Taproom manager Stephen Mc Laughlin is set to launch the venue’s brand new cocktail and food menu this Friday.

Stephen Mc Laughlin has extensive experience in the industry, from various management roles in bars between England, Germany and Ireland, to actually brewing beer with Smile’s Brewery, Bristol. When Smile’s closed, Stephen returned to bar management, working with Fuller’s pub in Bristol.

He then moved to work as a relief manager, travelling all over the UK before moving home for a brief period, then moved to Germany to work for the Irish bar Fiddler’s.

Stephen returned to Ireland 12 years ago working for various companies, which provided a wealth of knowledge and travel opportunities between Dubai and the USA. Travel has a been a huge influence on Stephen’s creativity when it comes to cocktails and expanding his knowledge and interest in fine wines, premium spirits and craft beer.

After moving around for many years Stephen decided to come home and joined the Voodoo Venue team six years ago. He has stayed with the company over the years due to its openness to try new ideas and freedom to be creative, an example of this was creating Letterkenny’s only dedicated cocktail bar.

Stephen was recently appointed House Wine Bar & Taproom manager, due to his extensive knowledge of products and attention to detail. He has recently given House a facelift, by creating new food and drinks menus and making cocktails a much more prominent feature of House.

The team at House are looking forward to meeting guests soon, who will see their new menus and avail of their weekly promotions. All you have to do is sign up to our Craft & Cork Club and you can avail of 20% off gin of the week on Tuesdays, 2 for 1 on cocktail of the week on Wednesdays and €20 per bottle of prosecco on Thursdays reduced from €25.

Or come down and check out House’s brand new Sunday folk session from 6-9pm.
