There was great excitement in Loreto Letterkenny as almost 1,000 students and teachers welcomed The Ryans, who less than 24 hours earlier, had made it through to the final of Ireland’s Fittest Family.
Danny, Keane, Jordan and Alanna, accompanied by mum Maria, were greeted with warm applause and cheers as they entered the school gym.
The Ryans have a huge fan club in Loreto, where Alanna is a Transition Year student and an active member of the school’s senior soccer team.
As the first Donegal family to take part in Ireland’s Fittest Family and now in the final, principal, Nora Friel said, “we here in Loreto are so proud of you, Alanna, and the part you have played as a member of Team Ryan in this very tough and exciting competition”.
The Ryans had some inspiring words for the students. Danny spoke to them about the importance of self-belief, positivity, never giving up and teamwork. Keane encouraged the students to “find something that you are passionate about”. The Ryans also shared with the students the most challenging and best parts of the competition so far. And then it was time for hundreds of photographs with The Ryan Family and very excited students and teachers.
