Nail-biting finish to Otway Golf Club’s turkey scramble

There was a nail-biting finish to the turkey scramble season in Otway on Sunday when three teams checked and rechecked handicaps and back nines to establish who were the winners of the last birds to be won in 2016.

The lucky trio of Pat McNulty, Mark Friel and Ollie O’Dowd scrambled to victory, thanks to one chip-in, and numerous lucky breaks, while the wee course tripped up the opposing teams with a bogey or two to scupper their chances.

Congratulations to the trio, and commiserations to any participant who battled throughout the season, but not fortunate enough to catch one of the elusive birds for the Christmas dinner table.

The club wishes all members and their families and happy and healthy Christmas, and members can join for one last ‘fun’ scramble on Wednesday 28th December to take part in the annual scramble for ‘bottles’, with names in to the clubhouse by 11.45 for a 12 noon tee-off.
