Finn Harps oldest fan Benny ready for another season: Is he League of Ireland’s oldest fan?

FINN HARPS’ oldest supporter Benny Gordon is ready for another season on the Finn Park terrace.

Now approaching his 92nd birthday, Benny – one of the oldest fans in the League of Ireland – is as enthusiastic about the 2017 season as he was way back in 1969, when Harps first entered the League.

He was at Finn Park this week to pick up his new season ticket.

Benny lives on the Donegal Road in Ballybofey and can regularly be seen by passers by attending to his impeccably-kept garden.

Following Harps is his real passion in life, though.

His first season ticket was purchased in the summer of ’69 – costing just £3 at the time, compared to the €140 for his ticket this year.

Benny has been a season ticket holder at Finn Park ever since and can be seen at every home game at the River End of the stand in the company of his regular match-night gang including his daughter Margaret, Kieran Quinn, Andrew Quinn and Paddy Walsh.

One of the founder members of the Finn Harps Supporters Club, Benny is the President of the Ballybofey & Stranorlar FHSC.
