ESB ease concerns on overnight blackout fear following Letterkenny power outage

THE ESB are working on restoring power to homes in the Ard Na Rí area of Letterkenny.

Sinn Fein Councillor Gerry McMonagle has been in contact with ESB staff, who have said that ‘some of the power’ has been restored to ‘some of the homes’.

While the ESB had initially indicated that the blackout would continue overnight, the ESB are now hopeful of restoring power within the next ‘few hours’.

“They are trying to locate the faults on site,” Councillor McMonagle said.

Around 400 homes have also been hit by a power outage in Inishowen, with the ESB saying they will have power back on around 8 o’clock this evening.

An ESB spokesperson said: “We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault and will restore power as quickly as possible.”
