DONEGAL’S TOP websites are joining forces to bring your favourite sites under the one umbrella.

Donegal Daily, Donegal’s largest news outlet, has taken on board the team from Donegal Sport Hub, Donegal’s biggest sports outlet.

The merger will see a content sharing arrangement and joint ventures between the sites which, combined with sister sites Derry Daily and Donegal Woman, gives us an entire collaboration of the biggest and best online outlets in the area.

Donegal Daily was founded six years ago and now boasts an average of 100,000 page views from an average of 50,000 unique users a day and 3million views each month.

“When Donegal Daily started six years ago, news was our main consideration and we have had huge success in becoming the number one news outlet in Donegal,” Stephen Maguire, Donegal Daily Editor, said.

“We didn’t have as much of an emphasis on sport, but we see this as a perfect coming together now with the addition of a first-class sports site and bringing on board Donegal’s top sports journalists.”

Donegal Daily and Donegal Sport Hub are delighted to announce the first of our joint ventures, a new weekly sports talk show.

The first episode of Donegal Sports Talk will go live on our platforms on Monday, January 30, at 9pm. More details of this will be unveiled in the coming days.

“It makes sense for everyone,” said Charlie Collins. “A lot of media outlets in Donegal are collaborating with content and we see this a natural fit for the coming together of two online outlets in the county.”

Donegal Sport Hub was founded in July 2015 by Charlie Collins, Chris McNulty and Alan Foley.

Donegal Sport Hub has gone from strength-to-strength. Since its inception, Donegal Sport Hub has had almost 4million page views from 650,000 users in 190 countries.

In 2016, Donegal Sport Hub was a finalist at the 2016 Realex Payments Web and Content Awards, in the Best Sports News Site category, which was won by balls.ie

“Our merger with Donegal Daily gives us a new, bigger platform for our content and stories and it’s an exciting move,” Chris McNulty said.

“It’s exciting not just for us, but also for our readers, viewers and listeners going forward as we look to take journalism in Donegal onto a whole new level.

“Last year, we covered the Donegal International Rally in its entirety and had over 100,000 viewers.

“ur aim is to do more events and coverage on that scale with more audio and video content, as well as greater engagement with our audience. We have already a number of big plans we hope to roll out in the coming weeks and months that will break new ground in Donegal.”
