Lucinda fits the bill at the Northwest Throwdown

Letterkenny woman Lucinda Gorman stole the show at one of the Northern Ireland’s biggest CrossFit events – the  Northwest Throwdown.

Lucinda took the first place in her category at the tournament last weekend hosted by Crossfit Derry.

The tournament attracts some of the top CrossFit athletes in Ireland, who showcase their skills over a gruelling one-day event and features Olympic lifting movements and gymnastic skills.

Lucinda, a Secondary School Teacher, who trains out of CrossFit Letterkenny in Pinehill Business Park, manages her busy lifestyle by fitting her training in, before work, under the watchful eye of Owner and Headcoach, Neil Barrett. She follows an exercise programme which combines cardio with resistance and weight training – Barrett says “she’s clearly reaping the benefits”.

With the latest accomplishment under her belt, Gorman is prepping for the Reebok Crossfit Games Open on Feb 23rd, which brings together the ‘fittest on earth’.

She hopes to ultimately place top female in Ireland in her Division and qualify to Regional, which will be held in June in Madrid, Spain.
