There will be a public meeting on Friday the 24th of February in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel in Ardara on the decline of Salmon stocks on the Ownea river.

Commercial fishermen and anglers are coming together to discuss how best to revive stocks on the river and want a greater say in the managment of the river.

Spokesperson Liam Whyte says that both commercial fishermen and anglers are enthusiastic about salmon stocks and wish to work and cooperate on the future of the river.

“We believe that the current approach is not working and we want a greater say in river management. The meeting takes place at 8pm and everyone is welcomed to come and give thier ideas and opinions,” he said.
