Finn Harps sweat on Morrissey injury as Dsane checks in late

Finn Harps are sweating on the fitness of Danny Morrissey after he picked up an injury last night against Cork City.

By Chris McNulty at Finn Park

Morrissey had to limp out of the action against Cork, the club from which he signed for Harps this season.

Morrissey was on the receiving end of a bad challenge that resulted in Garry Buckley being given his second yellow card of the night and was replaced a couple of minutes later.

Morrissey left Finn Park on crutches and was set to have an x-ray on an injured left knee, while the attacker was also suffering from an injured ankle.

“Danny took a nasty-looking knock,” said Harps manager Ollie Horgan.

“We’re hoping that he’ll recover and that he’ll be back fairly soon.

“We need everyone at that level to stay in the pack.”

Morrissey was replaced by Eddie Dsane in the 78th minute.

Dsane’s name on the team-sheet caused surprise around the ground. Dsane was signed by Harps this week, but kept under wraps.

A former Preston and Fleetwood player, he spent 2016 at Longford Town and Horgan said: “I have been speaking to Eddie since the end of last season. He played well against us here and I watched him a few times last season.”

Asked if his squad was now completed, Horgan said: “I’d say that’s the guts of the squad now. We’re always on the look-out, but that’ll be the bulk of it, if not all of it. I can’t see too many more.”
