Three Donegal women won Olympic weightlifting gold medals at the Northern Ireland Spring National Championships at the weekend.

Rathmullen’s Orla Harrison, Stranolar woman Abby Meenan and Megan Keown from Milford all train out of Fit-Hub Barbell Club in Letterkenny – and all three were at the top of their game at the weekend in their respective disciplines.

Harrison was competing as a senior female and picked up a gold medal in the 75kgs clean & jerk and the 58kg snatch – breaking her own personal record in the process.

Under-17 Keown, a junior female, won gold and set new national records in both the clean & jerk at 63kg and the snatch at 57kg.

Junior female under-15 Meenan set national records for both lifts, clean & jerk 48kg and snatch 35kg.

Fit-Hib Barbell club is located at Fit-Hub, Letterkenny in the Mountain Top and all three are coached by Neil Barrett.
