Scoil Mhuire won the 11-14 year old section in the LYIT U Code Competition on Friday!

170 students from 16 schools across Donegal and Derry took part. The teams of 3 were challenged to design a game to teach a 5-6 year old about animal welfare.

The Scoil Mhuire boys had 90 minutes to design and develop the game using Scratch software.

The 3 first year boys, Rory Coleman, Matthew Clifford and Jack Davison designed the game about a dog who had to be named, fed, exercised and finally taught to sit down.

Michael Murphy presented the prizes of Raspberry Pi3 and a LK voucher of €75 euro each

The successful students, under the guidance of Technology teacher, Mr Darragh Geaney, will now showcase their creation at the Digital Donegal Week in April 2017.

Principal Rosaleen Grant is very proud of the boys and especially since this is our first time to enter the competition and these young men have a very bright future in STEM.
