Tragic Danielle McLaughlin will be flown home to Ireland next week.
The 28-year-old from Buncrana was found dead on a beach in India on Tuesday.
A post mortem has confirmed Danielle was murdered.
A local man Vikat Bhagat, 24 — who police say has since confessed to her killing – has been charged with the crime.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust are working with the Irish Department of Foreign Affairs and the UK Foreign Office to bring Danielle’s body back to Ireland.
The founder of the Trust, Colin Bell said her body was due to be released today.
If all goes to plan Danielle’s body will be flown from Goa to Mumbai tomorrow, before being brought back to Ireland as early as Monday or Tuesday next week.
Colin said: “At the moment we are waiting for the paperwork to be completed. We are hopeful this will be done today.
“Danielle’s family are in limbo because nothing can be done at the moment.
“Nothing is definite but we are hopeful everything will go to plan.
“But it should be ok. We have the Department of Foreign Affairs and the Foreign Office both working hard to get everything sorted.”
Two of Danielle’s friends have flown from Australia to help bring her remains back to Buncrana for her funeral.
