Joe Duffy could yet broker a new deal with the UFC after defeating Reza Madadi in London tonight.

The 29-year-old Burtonport man overcame Iranian Madadi to go 16-2 as an MMA fighter in what was his last bout of his five-fight contract with UFC.
Duffy was said to have been frustrated by the offer on his table and has steadily said that he has no qualms about going down the ‘free agency’ route.
Duffy scored a unanimous decision win over Madadi at the O2 in London in a three-round lightweight contest.
Duffy took a 30-27, 30-27, 30-27 verdict on the scorecards.
Duffy drew some crimson from Madadi at the close of the first round and kept on top throughout a dominant evening in the octagon.
“I’m delighted to get the win,” Duffy said.
“I’d love to stay in the UFC so let’s just see what my options are from here.”
Duffy has won four of his five UFC bouts, with the only blemish a defeat to Dustin Poirier.
Tonight, Duffy was well in command and said: “Reza is a very durable fighter. I just had to keep chipping away at him. He has a very good defence and it’s hard to land shots on him so I just had to be patient and wait for the right opportunity.
“I wanted to get the knockout, but Reza has never been finished.
“Even though I know how durable he is, being there in the octagon with him, he was a level above. I really enjoyed the fight.
“Fights like this ask a lot about your character. I think I showed mine this evening.”
