Visits from the public to Letterkenny University Hospital have been immediately cancelled due to an outbreak of illness.
Management at Letterkenny University Hospital have today warned the general public that all visiting to the hospital is cancelled for the time being due to an outbreak of vomiting and diarrhoea.
The illness has affected three wards in particular, namely Medical 5, Medical 3 and Surgical 2.
In exceptional circumstances, an LUH spokesperson said that the next of kin should ring the ward directly to make arrangements.
People who are experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea at home should not visit the hospital under any circumstances. Children under 12 should not visit the hospital.
Strict hand washing/hand hygiene should be followed at all times.
