Declan Bonner praised his Donegal Under-21s after they captured the Ulster title with a 13-point win over Derry tonight.

“It’s a great feeling to win an Ulster title. They don’t come around too often,” beamed Bonner.
Derry gave as good as they got, until Connor netted the opening Donegal goal in the 29th minute.
Bonner said: “Derry really put it up to us. I wasn’t happy at half-time, but it was a very controlled second-half performance. Our pace, movement and discipline were very good in the second half.”
The win sees Donegal win what is the final Ulster U21 title – this competition will revert to an under-20 grade from next year.
Bonner first took over this group at under-16 level and they’ve won Ulster titles at every grade with Donegal now on the perch.
Bonner: “When I took over, we were in awe of the likes of Tyrone, but we put a stop to that. We had to work hard.
“We put excuses in the road, but we put a plan in place and we’ve won under-16, 17, minor and, now, under-21s with them. The players really deserve this; they have worked so hard.”
