Kildrum Tigers Under-15s defeated the might of Glasgow Rangers today on their way to booking a quarter-final spot at the Holland Cup in Amsterdam.

The young Tigers happen to be under the management of Rangers supporters Shane Porter and Russell Porter – but, for once, the St Johnston duo were happy to see the ‘Gers beaten.

Kildrum won all three of their group games today and will play another Scottish side, Greenock, in tomorrow’s quarter-final.

Shane Monaghan was on fire today with four goals in the three games.

Monaghan and Anton Murtagh netted in the 2-1 win over Rangers that saw the Tigers begin the tournament in perfect fashion.

Monaghan bagged the opener against Danish side Ledoji with Adam Callaghan adding the second for a 2-0 triumph.

And the in-form Monaghan was on the double as Kildrum defeated AS80 from Holland 3-0 in their final group game. The highlight of that one was a cracking strike by Evan McLaughlin.

AS80 are one of the hosts of the UEFA-backed tournament.

“It’s been a great experience so far,” Shane Porter said. “We came into the unknown but we’ve been well prepared and we played well throughout the day.

“We can’t wait to get going again tomorrow. We have a great bunch of boys out with us and they’ve worked really hard. They’re getting rewarded for that.”

Kildrum Tigers squad: Ben Boyle, Auryn Coyle, Aaron O’Donnell, Shane Coyle, Adam Callaghan, CJ Clarke, Shane Monaghan, Anton Murtagh, James Kernan, Sean Doherty, Michael Harris, Jamie Harris, Evan McLaughlin, Leon McBrearty, Niall Fielding, Jack McAuley, Darren Conaghan.
