Mark McHugh scored the Donegal goal as Rory Gallagher’s team made it two wins from two in their challenge games against New York at Gaelic Park overnight.

Donegal won 1-18 to 0-12 in the second of their two games against New York.

Donegal are in the Big Apple on a fundraising venture and had to line out without the county’s under-21 contingent, who were playing in the All-Ireland Under-21 semi-final yesterday.

Donegal were four in front, 0-10 to 0-4, ahead at half-time, with Patrick McBrearty on form.

They were eight in front when McHugh broke to goal although New York did narrow the deficit somewhat before the finish.

Karl Lacey had netted the Donegal goal in a 1-12 to 1-5 win on Thursday night.

Gallagher drafted Sean MacCumhaills’ Gavin Gallagher and Killybegs’ Jason Noctor – both based in New York – to boost the numbers for the games.

Donegal: Mark Anthony McGinley; Paddy McGrath, Neil McGee, Caolan Ward; Eamonn Doherty, Karl Lacey, Mark McHugh; Martin McElhinney, Ciaran Thompson; Martin O’Reilly, Frank McGlynn, Eoin McHugh; Patrick McBrearty, Michael Murphy, Hugh McFadden. Subs: Peter Boyle, Eamonn McGrath, Paul Brennan, Enda McCormack, Jason Noctor, Gavin Gallagher, Daniel McLaughlin, Conor Gibbons, Michael Boyle.
