Plea as heartless thieves steal from their own community

Senator Padraig Mac Lochlainn has said the theft of lights worth €2,000 from entrance signs to Buncrana is a “selfish act.”

The signs had been erected at the entrance to the town and had recently been renovated by Buncrana Tidy Towns and Donegal County Council.

Sinn Fein Senator Mac Lochlainn said the lights on the ‘Bun Cranncha’ sign were a special part of the local community.

This was a selfish attack on the local community by those responsible. These two signs are regularly lit up in various colours supporting local community organisations such as green for St Patrick’s’ Day and blue for Autism awareness week etc.

And he added “This criminal act also undermines the fantastic tidy towns organisation in Buncrana with the annual tidy towns testing coming up soon.”

He called on anyone with information to immediately contact An Garda Síochána.
