Reffin’ hell: Harps boss Horgan annoyed after sending off at Dalymount

Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan has explained his annoyance with the match officials during last night’s defeat to Bohemians at Dalymount Park.

Horgan was banished from the dugout by referee Graham Kelly, whose attention was drawn by fourth official Declan Hanney in the 37th minute as the Harps manager protested in his technical area.

Horgan had to watch the remainder of the game from a seat on the old Connaught Street Terrace and cut a lonely, frustrated figure as he watched his side fall to defeat with midfielder Barry Molloy also sent off.

“I’d like to see the report because, certainly, there was no foul language used,” Horgan said of his own sending off.

“I found it incredible that Paddy McCourt was booked for taking a free-kick too quickly and I think he waited a minute to take it. Yet, I spoke to Lorcan Fitzgerald…and the reason I got annoyed was he took a free kick with Paddy Kavanagh and touched it twice.

“Neither the referee or the fourth official saw it. I brought it to their attention…I can’t blame them for losing the game.”

Molloy had been booked in the first half and saw red nine minutes into the second half for a second yellow card.

Horgan said: “I felt Barry won the ball. Did he have both feet off the ground? I don’t think so, but now that’s another player down for Cork.”

Horgan was not permitted to speak with the referee when he first sought him out after the game in the dressing room area.
