Niall McCloskey will go down in history after netting the winner for Ballybofey United in Sunday’s Brian McCormick Cup final.

McCloskey’s 86th minute strike sank Rathmullan Celtic and it was a rare goal, too, his first in quite some time.

“I never usually score from left back so I have to make the most of it when I do get up,” he said.

“That one just made its way home. It’s not often it happens, but I’ll take it. We fought hard at it. It was great to come out on top.

“The last few years have been bleak enough, but it has come back around and we’re making a good go of it.”
