Lettermacaward cousins Declan and Brian Boyle won the Cavan Stages Rally after nine stages today.
The Boyles, in the WRC Fiesta, had 32.1 seconds to spare on their nearest challengers, Garry Jennings and Rory Kennedy in the WRC Impreza.
The Boyles have had some issues in the Fiesta in the last couple of years, but today they won in Cavan for the first time in four years and will be aiming to keep on track now for the Donegal International Rally next month.
Martin McCormack and David Moynihan, in a Skoda Fabia R5, were third, just 1.8 seconds off Jennings.
Donegal’s Ryan Moore was on the notes for Gary Kieran, who was fifth overall and the leading class 14 crew in their Mark 2 Escort, while Leon Jordan was co-driving for Ryan Loughran, seventh overall.
Adrian Cannon and Ivan Hernon in their R3 Civic, won class 3, while Brian Quigley and Seamus McTigue were winners of class 11F in the Civic.
There was joy, too, for the Glenswilly duo of Teighearnán Kelly and Donal Kelly scored an impressive win in the Junior category. The Kellys, brothers of 2016 Donegal International Rally winner Manus, were in a Honda Civic and had 59.3 seconds to spare on Sean Maloney and Shane Barry.
