DUNGLOE EDGED FARTHER up the All-County Football League Division 1 table gaining two points with victory over St Michael’s on Friday at Rosses Park.

 Dungloe 2-12 St Michaels 1-13

The visitors fielded a strong team despite being without the services of Christy Toye, Mark Anthony McGinley and Ciaran Gallagher. In the end though, it was 2-4 from Ryan Greene that ensured that the points stayed in the Rosses.

Dungloe’s Noel McBride opened the scoring with a point after only two minutes but the next 10 minutes belonged to the visitors and seen them edged in front with points from Colm Anthony McFadden – both from frees – and Michael Langan.

Then, McFadden after been fouled as he headed for goal, converted a penalty to leave it 1-3 to 0-1 as we entered the final quarter of the first half. The home side then hit a purple patch and two goals from nippy corner forward Ryan Greene in the space of two minutes had Dungloe in front again.

Points from Odhran McFadden and Michael Langan pulled the visitors away again. Ryan Greene pointed on 23 minutes but Michael Langan had the last say of the fist half pointing to leave the half-time score Dungloe 2-2 St Michael’s 1-7.

Four quick points at the start of the second half had the home side in front after seven minutes; points coming from Shaun Sharkey, Ryan Greene, Adam Neely and a 45 by goalkeeper Danny Rodgers.

St Michael’s responded with points from Andrew Kelly, Daniel McLaughlin, Michael Langan and Colm Anthony McFadden had them back in front with 15 minutes remaining.

Shaun Sharkey and Ryan Greene – one from a free and another from play – had the home side in the driving seat again. But still the visitors kept going and an Odhran McFadden point levelled matters again.

Adam Neely pointed on 53 minute but a quick free seen Michael Cannon point on 26 mins to narrow the margin as the clock ticked down.
