St Michael’s run riot with seven goals in Bundoran

MICHAEL LANGAN AND Colm McFadden both hit 2-3 each to give the visitors an easy win and both points in this afternoon’s All-County Football League Division 1 clash at Gaelic Park.

Realt na Mara 0-8  St Michael’s  7 -10
Both teams will meet again later  in the championship but surely it will not be as handy an hour for the men from the Bridge.
The writing was on the wall for the Seasiders as early as the sixth minute with two early St Michael’s goals from Brian McLaughlin and Langan (pictured above by Geraldine Diver) and points from Odhran McFadden and his namesake Colm.
Bundoran registered their first scores from Gary Clancy frees before  another  brace from Odhran McFadden and Langan  had the visitors eight with 25 minutes gone. A trademark  strike to the net from Colm Fadden was replied to by an Alan Russell free and a Peter Mc Gonigle point from play.
Then on the stroke of halftime the men in red moved up the gears at ease again to hit their fourth goal with a well finished effort from Daniel McLaughlin. It was 4-4 to 0-4 at the break for St Michael’s.
Bundoran, who admittedly were short quite a few regulars with Jamie Brennan, Paul Brennan and Ciaran Mc Caughey all absent,  never posed any threat and it was normal service resumed early  in the second half as Langan and Brian McLaughlin points and a scrambled Martin McElhinney goal with a brace of Clancy frees in reply.
A Tommy Hourihane free got the Bundoran total up to 0-7 before Colm McFadden showed his class again hitting 1 -2 in a spell binding five-minute spell.
A well taken point from county minor Paul Murphy – making his senior league debut – was Bundoran’s final score in a day to forget for the home team.
Two final points from the excellent Langan and sub  Eoghan Kelly left the full-time score Realt na Mara 0-8 St Michael’s 7 -10
