There was widespread sadness across Inishowen following the death of a well-known visitor to the area on Sunday.
Professor Patrick Johnston died while out on a cycle at Pinch Mountain.
The road was sealed off by Gardai while they investigated the incident.
It is understood that Professor Johnston died of natural causes.
Professor Johnston, who was the vice-chancellor of Belfast University, had a holiday home in nearby Muineagh, Desertegney, outside Buncrana.
Survived by his wife Iseult and four sons, Seamus, Eoghan, Niall and Ruairi, Professor Johnston was a prominent figure in cancer research.
Messages of condolences have been expressed on social media.
