Pettigo team Kevin Eves and William Lynch’s Joule Donegal International Rally came to an end for 2017 yesterday when they went off course in Knockalla.
Fortunately no serious injuries were sustained by the pair, however Kevin Eves has had to receive surgery on his foot.
Yesterday evening Eves reassured fans on his Facebook page, Eves Motorsport, that he is in good form.
“We ran wide and ended up having a slight disagreement with a few concrete posts!
“Willy is fine and I am just waiting to go to surgery on my left foot.
“Big thanks to the marshalls and ambulance crew who done a top job getting us out of the car.
“Thanks for all the kind messages folks much appreciated.
“We will be back on the stages as soon as we can get big blue back together!”
Speaking to Donegal Daily, Kevin’s father Martin says “he is in good form although a little disappointed that his rally ended this way, however he would like to send a sincere thank you to the course doctor, the safety personnel and his fellow competitors who came to his aid.
“Also, a big thank you to the ambulance crew and the doctors and nurses at Letterkenny General Hospital for taking care of him.
“Hopefully he will be up and about in the not too distant future and best of luck to all competitors.”
