Job Vacancy: Sous Chef required at Mc Gettigans Hotel and Warehouse Bar + Kitchen

Job Vacancy: A popular hotel, bar and restaurant in the heart of Letterkenny is seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their team.

We are recruiting for a dedicated Sous Chef with experience, drive and ambition for Mc Gettigans Hotel and Warehouse Bar + Kitchen.

Reporting to the Head Chef the ideal candidate will be organised, efficient and have strong team leader skills and have the ability to assume responsibility for the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.   At least 2 years recent experience of a Sous chef level position required.

The successful candidate will;

  • Have an enthusiastic, can do attitude and enjoy rising to the challenge
  • Be qualified in professional cookery or equivalent.
  • Have a passion for cooking food and culinary techniques
  • Experience and knowledge of implementing and monitoring HACCP procedures
  • Assist the Head Chef in the implementation of a profitable and cost-effective stock taking system
  • Assist in the ordering of all purchases and deliveries of fresh produce/dry goods.
  • Ensure all fresh produce deliveries are of the highest standards and taking action regarding unacceptable standards of delivered produce.
  • Assist in the checking of deliveries ensuring all produce is accounted for.
  • Responsible for the Health and Safety and Hygiene standards in the Kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef.
  • Assist the Head Chef in the constant strive for innovation and imaginative menus, taking into consideration, cost and profit achieved, sales mix, seasonal foods, etc.
  • Assist the Head Chef in ensuring all dishes are prepared in a timely fashion and to the appropriate standards.
  • Assist other kitchen chefs in the preparation of dishes, ensuring all dishes which leave the kitchen meet the required standards of presentation.
  • Assist with the food preparation for banqueting events.
  • Keep all areas of the kitchen clean and hygienic, and safe to work in.
  • Follow rigidly all hygiene regulations.
