Bonagee in search for new manager as Peter Moran departs

Ulster Senior League side Bonagee United are on the look out for a new manager following the departure of Peter Moran.

The Dry Arch Park club confirmed in a brief statement last night that Derry native Moran had left the club by ‘mutual consent’.

Moran was in his second spell at the club.

Bonagee boast one of the most impressive facilities in Donegal and Dry Arch Park could rival most intermediate facilities in Ireland, but success has not followed.

It was a point touched on by Moran during the last campaign when he said: “We need to realise that and see what the club has given to us. We need to put that on the pitch now.

“We’ve had big days, won a Cup, won a Shield and came second in the League, but that doesn’t matter. Until you become a winner and start repaying that, it doesn’t matter.”

For a brief spell last season, Bonagee threatened to mount a title challenge, but their bid fell by the way side and they finished fifth, 19 points off winners Cockhill Celtic.

Moran had also been the manager of the Ulster Senior League’s Intermediate Interprovincial team.

Although it had been widely expected that Moran would continue in the post, Bonagee said last night:  “The club would like to announce that Peter Moran has left his position as senior team manager by mutual consent.

“We would like to thank Peter for his monumental contribution to the club and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”
