Letterkenny native and Finn Valley AC athlete Arlene Crossan leaves Donegal later this month to take up an athletics scholarship at the University of New Mexico.

University of New Mexico is a Division 1 NCAA College that will offer great opportunities academically and athletically.

In the 400m hurdles, Crossan has represented Ireland in European Youth and Under-20 Championships.

As a testament to the pedigree of the University of New Mexico, four present of former athletes are competing at the 2017 World Athletics Championships in London.

Arlene is in London at the Championships and will become the seventh Finn Valley athlete to take up a scholarship in America.

Last month, Crossan competed in the European Under-20 Championships in Italy.

Also this year, she won the Irish Junior 400m hurdles in Tullamore, in a time of 1:01:08.
