Listen: Horgan lauds Dsane as Harps win FAI Cup thriller

Finn Harps manager Ollie Horgan heaped praise on match-winner Eddie Dsane after last night’s epic FAI Cup win over Bohemians.

Dsane’s free-kick, dropping in off the underside of the crossbar in the third minute of extra time, gave Harps the edge after a thrilling three-all draw at Finn Park.

Dsane spent last weekend in Letterkenny University Hospital and was a major doubt. But the Englishman lined out and netted his fifth goal in his last six games.

“Eddie deserves a lot of credit for making himself available,” Horgan said.

“He had a rough time after last Friday when he took ill. He made himself available, did light training on Wednesday. He was out on his feet there but he stood up to the mark.

“Regardless of the goal, the energy and the want to be there were second to none.”

A brace of Sean Houston penalties, the second of them with the penultimate kick of normal time, earned Harps extra time against the Gypsies.

Horgan said: “It was a great game. Both teams went at it. It looked liked it went Bohs’ way, but it happened by the skin of our teeth. I think anyone who was here enjoyed it.”
