The Ulster Senior League has announced that is to once again team up with Watson Menswear in Letterkenny for Player of the Month Awards.

The 2016/17 season saw the Watson Menswear Player of the Month Awards up and running for the first time – and they proved a huge hit in the USL.

Seven monthly awards were presented during the season while Watson Menswear also sponsored the overall Player of the Year award, won by Cockhill Celtic’s Jimmy Bradley.

The winners of the Player of the Month awards, sponsored by Watson Menswear, will be presented with a €50 gift voucher.

“The Player of the Month awards were a great success last season and we are delighted to announce that again we are teaming up with Leonard Watson of Watson Menswear for the coming season,” said the Ulster Senior League Chairman, Johnny McCafferty.

“These awards generate good publicity for the League and also generate great debate among football supporters each month. All of that raises the profile of the League among the general public.

“The awards really help us to showcase the talent in the USL and it’s a nice reward for our players too.

“We would like to thank Leonard and his team at Watson Menswear for all their support throughout the season and we look forward to the new season.”

Watson Menswear opened in 2012 and have gone from strength to strength in their five years in business.

“We at Watson Menswear are delighted to be involved in the Ulster Senior League and to put something back into the local game,” said Leonard Watson, proprietor of Watson Menswear.

“The first year of the awards were a great success all around and hopefully this season will get the same level of reaction.

“The Ulster Senior League has a very professional committee and they are doing great work for football in Donegal so we are happy to assist their efforts to improve their product in any way.

“We would like to wish the Ulster Senior League, their clubs and players all the best for the new season.”

Watson Menswear Player of the Month Award winners in 2016/17 were: September – Cathal Farren (Derry City Reserves), October – Peter Doherty (Cockhill Celtic), November – Shaun McElwaine (Fanad United), January – Tony McNamee (Swilly Rovers), February – Oisin McColgan (Cockhill Celtic), March – Paul Boyle (Letterkenny Rovers), April – Jimmy Bradley (Cockhill Celtic).
