Listen: Darren McElwaine looks to end Letterkenny Rovers’ title wait

Darren McElwaine has been one of the most prolific marksmen in the Ulster Senior League of recent years – but wants to add another USL title to the mantlepiece.

The Convoy native has won just one League title at the Leckview Park club and it feels like an eternity since 2009.

Rovers ran Cockhill close last season, pipped by only three points at the conclusion of the race – and the experienced striker has the title in sight as a new season dawns.

“Rovers need a League title under the belt – there is no doubt about that,” McElwaine said.

“I’ve been at Rovers for ten years and we’ve won five or six trophies. Sometimes that might be good enough, but there is only one League title in it.

“We drew four games in six at the start of the season last year so we have to take responsibility. We’re disappointed to have no League title since 2009.”
