Marc Walsh has been included in the Republic of Ireland Under-17 squad for the forthcoming friendly games against FYR Macedonia.

The Irish squad begin their preparations for this season’s UEFA U17 Championships qualifiers with two testing games in Skopje on Friday and Sunday.

O’Brien’s side have a testing UEFA U17 Qualifying Round group as they travel to Bulgaria with the Ukraine and Azerbaijan also in Group 11. England will host the 2018 UEFA U17 European Championships Finals next May.

Colin O’Brien’s squad included Loughanure man Walsh, who is now with Swansea City, having made the move on a three-year deal from Finn Harps in the summer.

Walsh played at the weekend as the Swans Under-18s drew 1-1 with Aston Villa in the Premier League South. Walsh bagged a debut goal earlier this month, netting in a 2-0 win at Reading.

“It feels great to get off the mark,” said Walsh at the time. “I was pleased to get my first goal this early into the season.

“I am settling in well and really enjoying my time here.”
