The summer is well and truly over as Met Eireann forecast rain and gusty conditions for Donegal this weekend.

Heavy and thundery falls are possible this evening, with moderate northwesterly breezes that are gustier along the coast.

Tomorrow will be cool and blustery, with some heavy showers predicted. The showers will ease towards the evening. Gusty and fresh northwesterly winds will reach strong to near gale in coastal areas, but will gradually moderate by evening. Highest temperatures of 15 to 16 degrees.

The wind will pick up slightly on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures of 13/14 degrees.

Met Eireann has also issued a gale warning and small craft warning today. They warn that northwest winds will reach gale force later tonight on coasts from Mizen Head to Slyne Head to Malin Head. Small crafts in all coastal waters are warned of westerly winds veering northwest will reach force 6 or higher today.
