Donegal delight as Toland, Barrett make Irish senior debuts

Tyler Toland and Amber Barrett made their Republic of Ireland senior debuts tonight in a 2-0 win over Northern Ireland.

At Mourneview Park, Colin Bell’s team scored a deserved derby win on a big night for the Donegal duo.

There was a big Donegal support among the crowd in Lurgan and they got their night made in the closing stages.

Toland, just a month after she celebrated her 16th birthday, came in for goalscorer Megan Campbell.

The St Johnston woman was the Under-16 player of the year last season and this weekend heads to Sarajevo with the Irish U17s.

Tonight, the Maiden City midfielder showed some neat touches after her introduction.

Milford woman Barrett completed a night to remember for the Donegal contingent as the Peamount United forward replaced the injured Stephanie Roche.

Ireland took the lead just before half-time when a long throw by Campbell was headed into her own net by Rachel Furness.

Campbell bagged a superb second when she delightfully curled into the top corner.
