Watch: A Donegal man made Jimmy Magee’s all-time Ireland XI

A Donegal man made Jimmy Magee’s best ever Republic of Ireland XI.

Magee, the legendary RTÉ commentator who passed away on Tuesday night, selected Shay Given as the goalkeeper on his all-time Irish XI.

“At his best, one of the best,” Magee remarked of the Lifford man.

Magee died aged 82 having commentated on 10 Olympic Games and 11 World Cups.

His Republic of Ireland XI was: Shay Given; Denis Irwin, Charlie Hurley, Paul McGrath, Steve Staunton; Roy Keane, John Giles, Liam Brady, Ronnie Whelan; Ray Houghton; Robbie Keane.
