Buncrana Hearts midfielder Kieran McDaid has been included in the Republic of Ireland junior squad for a quadrangular tournament in Glasgow.

McDaid is the only Donegal man named in the 20-man squad.

McDaid played for Finn Harps in 2015, making ten appearances for the club before returning to Buncrana again.

In May, McDaid played as a sub for Buncrana Hearts in the Buncrana Credit Union Cup final against Greencastle FC, having missed a large swathe of the season with injury.

McDaid’s was a big absence for his club and for Inishowen League, who lost to Clare in the Oscar Traynor Trophy final.

In the 2014/15 final, McDaid scored one of the goals in Inishowen’s 2-1 final win over Limerick.

Now, he’s been selected for international duty with Ireland set to play Isle of Man (October 11), Scotland (October 12) and Northern Ireland (October 14).
