Disappointing start, but Boyle and Ireland to refocus for England clash

It wasn’t the start that they were hoping for but the Ireland Amputee team will regroup and refocus on their next games in the EAFF European Championships in Turkey.

Ireland, captained by Dungloe’s James Boyle (above) lost 2-0 to World Champions Russia yesterday.

Russia showed their class in the opening game of the tournament for both sides, even though it took them until the second half to break the deadlock.

Ireland’s tactics worked well early on and they were able to match their opponents to go in at interval scoreless. But Russia got two quick goals in the second period to take control.

Still, the Irish side, led by captain Boyle, never gave up and had their moments in the game.

However, a comeback did not happen and they will have to look at the positives ahead of the game against England this afternoon.
