James Boyle and the Irish Amputee Football Team have been drawn to face Poland in the quarter-finals of the EAFF European Championships in Turkey.

Dungloe man Boyle, a student at LyIT, scored after just 40 seconds yesterday in a 4-0 win over Greece that confirmed Ireland’s place in the quarter-finals.

Narrow defeats to World Champions Russia (2-0) and neighbours England (1-0) saw Ireland start off in agony, but they were on track following a big win yesterday.

Boyle’s 13th Irish goal set them on their way and the west Donegal man also set up another of Ireland’s goals.

Boyle is the Irish captain for this tournament.
