Ryan McHugh gave an insight into the determination of Kilcar’s players after they won yesterday’s Donegal SFC title in Ballybofey.

Kilcar overcame Naomh Conaill in a low-scoring affair, 0-7 to 0-4.

It was in contrast to the swashbuckling Kilcar that had been out in the earlier periods of the Championship.

“Its been a long wait. We said coming up here today that no matter what we did, we were getting over that line,” McHugh said.

“We looked at each other in the eyes in the dressing room at half-time. We said: ‘We’re not losing this today, not a hope’.

“It’s been too long but you have to be there on merit. We’ve really dug deep. This is going back six or seven years and it’s unbelievable to get over the line.”
