Schools, services and businesses have announced they will be closed on Tuesday 17th October in the aftermath of the severe storm Ophelia.

Expected storm damage and power outages have led to preemptive closures:

Closure List (as of Monday, 16th Oct 9pm)

  • All primary and secondary schools in Ireland have been ordered to close on Tuesday by the Department of Education.
  • All Donegal ETB schools, Further Education and Training Centres, crèches, Gartan Outdoor Education and Training centre and the music service are closed – check this list for full details
  • The Doorway Project childcare services will remain closed on Tuesday

The Department of Education has said the decision to open/close would be left to each individual third level college.

Management at the Letterkenny Institute of Technology have said the campus will reopen. Students and staff are advised to travel only if it’s safe to do so. Further updates will be shared on LYIT Facebook or via email.

Refresh this page for more updates as they come in. Send your cancellation notices to info@donegaldaily.com or message Donegal Daily on Facebook.
