Lagan Harps took part in the FAI Women’s Under-12 National Cup Blitz on Sunday and reached the semi-finals of the competition.

Bríd McGinty’s girls narrowly lost out to Home Farm, 1-0, in the semi after a superb day of action at the AUL Complex.

Lagan topped their group to get into the last four along with Home Farm, Cabinteely and Real Tubber.

Lagan overcame Newbridge Town 2-1 in their opening game, with Niamh Sweeney netting both goals.

Harriett McCrossan scored the only goal of the game as Lagan then defeated Ringmahon Rangers.

In their final group game, Lagan drew 0-0 with Cavan to finish top of Group C.

34 games were played over the day and a sign of the closeness of the competition was that only three games were won by more than two goals.

In the final, Home Farm defeated Real Tubber on penalties following a 1-1 draw.
