Eamon McGee has been confirmed as part of the ticket of Donegal Under-20 managerial candidate Gary McDaid.
2012 All-Ireland winner McGee retired from inter-county football in 2016 after making 154 appearances, including 57 in the Championship, for Donegal.
Glenswilly man McDaid will have his name in the hat for the Under-20 vacancy after being nominated by his club.
Gaoth Dobhair’s McGee and Termon’s Francie Friel – who was Donegal Under-17 manager in 2017 – are part of McDaid’s backroom team in the bid.
McDaid had previously been nominated for the Donegal senior job, but withdrew his name from the race.
McDaid was on the sideline for each of Glenswilly’s three Donegal SFC wins.
In 2011, he was joint manager with John McGinley for their first success. McDaid was the manager in 2013 when Glenswilly were next champions and he was on Michael Canning’s backroom team in 2015 when the Glenmen took receipt of Dr Maguire again.
Nomintions for the role close next week.
The 2018 campaign will be the first for the Under-20 grade.
It is expected that 2017 Donegal minor manager Sean Paul Barrett will also contest the position while the name of Paddy Carr has also been mooted.
Barrett was interviewed for the senior position, which was given to Declan Bonner, while Carr, currently the Ballymun Kickhams manager, was nominated for that role only to withdraw his name.
