Winter has truly arrived in Donegal, as you can see from these breathtaking photos from the top of Errigal.

A cold snap has hit high ground today and covered Donegal’s highest mountain with a dusting of snow.

Adventurer Iain Miller of Unique Ascent captured these wintry scenes on Errigal this afternoon:

The weather outlook for tonight is forecast to be bitterly cold, with lows of 0 to 2 degrees and frost in places. Heavy rain is also due to set in across the North West tonight with a risk of hail and thunder.

Met Eireann forecasters say Thursday will bring more cold conditions with possible sleet and snow showers. Heavy showers are set to continue in Donegal before another cold night where temperatures could reach lows of 0 degrees.
