Glenswilly man Gary McDaid is poised to be named as the new Donegal Under-20 Football team manager.

The selection committee will put McDaid’s name forward for ratification at the monthly county committee meeting on Monday night next in Ballybofey.

Interviews for the position for the first year of the new Under-20 grade took place last night.

McDaid is joined on the management team by 2012 All-Ireland winner Eamon McGee and by Termon’s Francie Friel.

McDaid had previously been nominated for the Donegal senior job, but withdrew his name from the race.

McDaid was on the sideline for each of Glenswilly’s three Donegal SFC wins.

In 2011, he was joint manager with John McGinley for their first success. McDaid was the manager in 2013 when Glenswilly were next champions and he was on Michael Canning’s backroom team in 2015 when the Glenmen took receipt of Dr Maguire again.

Sean Paul Barrett, who led the Donegal minors over the last couple of years, also contested the post.
