Listen: Naomh Colmcille captain Willie Gillespie savours club’s greatest hour

Not even in his wildest dreams could Willie Gillespie envisage captaining Naomh Colmcille to Ulster glory.

But last night at Celtic Park, Gillespie – with what felt like his entire parish before him on the pitch – was hoisting the silverware into the air.

A 1-9 to 0-6 win over Belnaleck saw this Naomh Colmcille tear up the script.

“I never thought I’d see the day,” Gillespie – who kicked a couple of wonderful scores over the hour – said.

“All we wanted was a good League run and we’re here on a November night with the Ulster Championship.

“We got all the boys together, nailed down, and we’re reaping the rewards.”
